Why silk, not nylon?
"Conventional floss is plastic-based (nylon, polyester) and can even be coated with PTFE (Teflon). Neither biodegrades, and against the absorbent tissues of the mouth, there is a likelihood of microplastics entering the bloodstream. Silk is the material that makes sense, it is strong, naturally antimicrobial, and fully biodegradable."
